    Default The Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man. When He was on this earth He had both attributes of God and humanity. The fact that Jesus was fully God shows the deity of Christ. Scripture makes it more than clear that Jesus was God in the flesh.

1 Timothy 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” KJV

Jesus Christ was also the second member of the Godhead. Many witnesses in scripture prove the deity of Christ to be true, such as God the Father, John the Baptist, Peter, John and even Satan and the devils. To give you one verse, here is a verse wrote by John concerning the deity of Christ.

1 John 5:20 “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” KJV

Jesus is called the Son of God. There are many sons of God in scripture, but Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” KJV

The new versions pervert the deity of Christ in the above verse when they take out the word “begotten”. Below is the same verse in the NIV (Nutty Idiots Version).

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” NIV

Jesus Christ claims the name “I am” in the New Testament, just like God the Father did in the Old Testament. This also shows the deity of Christ.

John 8:58 “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” KJV

Exodus 3:14 “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” KJV

Jesus Christ is also called the Word by John. The below scriptures that deal with the Word (Jesus) show the deity of Christ, the Incarnation and also His position in the Trinity.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” KJV

John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” KJV

1 John 5:7 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” KJV

Many things in scripture prove His deity, such as His attributes, His works and the fact that He was worshipped by angels and men. Also, notice how Thomas calls Jesus, his Lord and God.

Hebrews 1:6 “And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.” KJV

John 20:28 “And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.” KJV

Jesus is equal to the Father according to the next two verses.

John 10:30 “I and my Father are one.” KJV

Philippians 2:6 “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:” KJV

The Lord Jesus Christ was born of a virgin woman, named Mary. Mary was the mother of Jesus’ humanity, but she was not the Mother of God as the Catholics believe. Mary was a sinner and had other children after her FIRST born, Jesus according to Luke 1:47; 2:22, Matthew 1:25 and Matthew 13:55-56. The virgin birth does not elevate Mary; rather it elevates Jesus, who was God in the flesh. Remember the wise men came to worship Him, not Mary.

In the below verse we see the virgin birth and deity of Christ.

Matthew 1:23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” KJV

The humanity of Jesus is shown by how He hungered, thirsted, grew tired and wept. These instances are found in Matthew 4:2, John 19:28, John 4:6 and John 11:35. His death also shows His humanity, but it was necessary because it was appointed by God and was the atonement for sin.

Romans 5:11 “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” KJV

Jesus Christ was fully human, yet lived without sin. While He was on the cross, He bore our sin, so we would have a chance at salvation.

2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” KJV

Catholics usually have Jesus Christ still on the cross, but that is not the end of the story. Jesus was raised on the third day by the power of God. The resurrection of Christ proved the existence of God, the deity of Christ and proved that all men will be judged according to Acts 17:31. The evidences of the resurrection include the empty tomb (Matthew 28:6), the eye witnesses (1 Corinthians 15:1-8), the change in the lives of the disciples afterwards, the grave clothes and the testimony of all of the Saints, even still today.

The below verse shows that the resurrection of Jesus Christ could be proven in COURT because there were more than 500 eye witnesses!

1 Corinthians 15:6 “After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.” KJV

Regardless of what John MacArthur, the TULIP Sniffer (Calvinist) says, there is POWER in the precious BLOOD of the Lord Jesus Christ. What do we have through the Blood? Redemption (Ephesians 1:7), Forgiveness of Sins (Colossians 1:14), Justification (Romans 5:9), Sanctification (Hebrews 10:10), Cleansing (1 John 1:7), Peace (Colossians 1:20), and Victory (Revelation 12:11)!

I will stop there, even though there is much more to cover. Most people know all about this subject, but it is still good for Christians to constantly study about who Jesus Christ truly is according to scriptures. If the student of the word of God faithfully does this, it will help him understand how great Jesus is and how worthless, he, the sinner is compared to the Lord.
Proverbs 27:5 "Open rebuke is better than secret love. 6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." KJV

Here is a man who foretold it happening.

The Desirability of Keeping the Authorized Version

    by J. C. Philpot [/CENTER]

(Written in 1857 when the Revised Version was contemplated)

We take this opportunity to express our opinion upon a question much agitated of late--whether it would be desirable to have a new (or at least a revised) translation of the Scriptures. We fully admit that there are here and there passages of which the translation might be improved, as, for instance, "love" for "charity" all through 1 Corinthians 13; but we deprecate any alteration as a measure that, for the smallest sprinkling of good, would deluge us with a flood of evil. The following are our reasons:

    1. Who are to undertake it? Into whose hands would the revision fall? What an opportunity for the enemies of truth to give us a mutilated false Bible! Of course, they must be learned men, great critics, scholars, and divines, but these are notoriously either Puseyites or Neologians (We should say: Anglo-Catholics and Modernists.)--in other words, deeply tainted with either popery or infidelity. Where are there learned men sound in the truth, not to say alive unto God, who possess the necessary qualifications for so important a work? And can erroneous men, men dead in trespasses and sins, carnal, worldly, ungodly persons, spiritually translate a book written by the blessed Spirit? We have not the slightest ground for hope that they would be godly men, such as we have reason to believe translated the Scriptures into our present version.

    2. Again, it would unsettle the minds of thousands as to which was the Word of God, the old translation or the new. What a door it would open for the workings of infidelity, or the temptations of Satan! What a gloom, too, it would cast over the minds of many of God's saints to have those passages which had been applied to their souls translated in a different way, and how it would seem to shake all their experience of the power and preciousness of God's Word!

    3. But besides this, there would be two Bibles spread through the land, the old and the new, and what confusion would this create in almost every place! At present, all sects and denominations agree in acknowledging our present version as the standard of appeal. Nothing settles disputes so soon as when the contending parties have confidence in the same umpire and are willing to abide by his decision. But this judge of all disputes, this umpire of all controversy, would cease to be the looser of strife if the present acknowledged authority were put an end to by a rival.

    4. Again, if the revision and re-translation were once to begin, where would it end? It is good to let well alone, as it is easier to mar than mend. The Socinianising (Denying the Godhead of Christ) Neologian would blot out "God" in 1 Timothy 3:16

English Revised Version “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; He who was manifested in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, received up in glory.” It happened just like Philpot said it would, 24 years later in 1881, thanks to Westcott & Hort.
, and strike out 1 John 5:7,8, as an interpolation.

English Revised Version 1 John 5:7-8 “And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one.” They struck out Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. Againm it was 24 years later, and it happened.

King James Bible 1 John 5:7-8 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”
The Puseyite would mend it to suit Tractarian views (Led by Newman and Keble, the Tractarians were moving towards Romanism). He would read "priest" where we now read "elder," and put "penance" in the place of "repentance."

Once set up a notice, "THE OLD BIBLE TO BE MENDED," and there would be plenty of workmen, who, trying to mend the cover, would pull the pages to pieces. The Arminian would soften down the words "election" and "predestination" into some term less displeasing to Pharisaic ears. "Righteousness" would be turned into "justice,"

New International Version (©1984) “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” This verse is wrong because with the heart we believe, and righteousness is imputed to us, and that righteousness is Jesus Christ. We are not justified with our heart, we are justified by the work of the cross, which is Jesus Christ dying for our sins. While this change didn’t take place in 1881, it did take place in 1984, in five different verses. Satan is subtle.

King James Bible “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
    and "reprobate" into "undiscerning."

While they didn’t change “reprobate” into “undiscerning”, the NIV removed the word “reprobate” from the New Testament. The NIV changed “reprobate” to “ failed the test”, “ unfit”, “rejected”, and “seemed to have failed”, among others.

All our good Bible terms would be so mutilated that they would cease to convey the Spirit's meaning, and instead of the noble simplicity, faithfulness and truth of our present version, we should have a Bible that nobody would accept as the Word of God, to which none could safely appeal, and on which none could implicitly rely.
    5. Instead of our good old Saxon Bible, simple and solid, with few words really obsolete, and alike majestic and beautiful, we should have a modern English translation in the pert and flippant language of the day. Besides its authority as the Word of God, our present version is the great English classic generally accepted as the standard of the English language. The great classics of a language cannot be modernised. What an outcry there would be against modernising Shakespeare, or making Hooker, Bacon or Milton talk the English of the newspapers or of the House of Commons!
    6. The present English Bible has been blessed to thousands of the saints of God; and not only so, it has become part of our national inheritance which we have received unimpaired from our fathers, and are bound to hand down unimpaired to our children.

Amen Bro. Cody, thanks for the reminder of the glory and majesty of our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of course the marvellous truth and authority of the King James Bible, the word of our God, amen.
    .
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
